Yargo Xterra

The alarm went off at the arse crack of dawn, 4:30am! Time to start eating. Two cups of oatmeal, an apple, some toast with jelly, and 2 cups of coffee. That should do for a while. Right on time at 5:10am there was a knock at the door and it was the rest of the Cowbell Clanking Crew, Brian and Christie. We pile into the Subie and hit the road.

We arrived early enough to see the sun come up over the fr...fr...FREEZING cold lake that I was about to swim a cool 750 meters in.

Brian and the ladies help me get my transition area set up and I set off to get warmed up and dressed or undressed as the case may be.

I thought I would let everyone know how someone new to all this tri stuff warms up by swimming on land.

Race starts with everyone standing in the water. It's a little chilly just standing there. But we are going to start any second now.

Ten minutes later I was getting rather chilled. Maybe a wetsuit will be useful next time. Come on! Let's GO!

Finally! We are going. I think that was about stroke 2.

I am out there somewhere. Out to the little dot by the shore, then make a right at the bouy and head to the next bouy. Does anyone know why the water temp at the bouys was sooooo much colder! Holy smokes.

Out of the water and heading to the transition for the first time. Look out for all the freaking pine cones. Big thanks to Brian for clearing the path.

Apparently my feet were thirsty while in transition.

Putting on socks and shoes with damp feet is not so easy. Next time I want a hair dryer so that I can properly dry my feet!

Woo Hoo! On the bike now. Time to fly as this is really the only portion that I do better than most.

And away I go.

Despite having to pass dozens of people, I had an ok bike time.

Off for the 5 mile trail run.

Bring on the pain.

There's the pain. My lower back totally tightened up on me. OUCH!

Oh so close. Don't fall down now!

I heard that The Cowbell Clanking Crew was a little distracted at times by the "UBER-Tri-Guy". Even Brian had to check him out.

Christie thought he was....

Thanks again to Rebecca, Christie and Brian for waking up so early and cheering me on!

Next up is the Xterra SE Champs in Alabama.

Cheers!
